Got an invitation for two weddings for one couple?

This is flat out nuts. You're correct that each couple gets one wedding, so I wouldn't worry about being rude with your question. I'd guess everyone getting these silly invites is going to have the same question (and the same resentment). People are getting downright insane with weddings and it always puzzles me, because normal people like you always react negatively.
