What are the positions in track?

Ok so there are track and field events. Field events consist of high jump, long jump, triple jump, pole vault, discus, and shotput. High jump is when you run and try to jump over a bar without knocking it off. Long jump is trying to jump as far as you can by sprinting and leaping into a sand pit. Triple jump is very similar but instead of running to the pit you do a hop skip type approach. Pole vault is flinging yourself over a bar using a pole. Discus is throwing a weighted frisbee basically and shotput is throwing a weighted ball. Track events are the running events and if you are fast this is probably what you would do. The distances that you can run range from 100m to 3200m (2 miles).
