Will my dog learn to sleep by himself?

I have an 8 yr old weiner dog who has slept with me in my bed nearly every night. I recemtly got a new bed/sheets and my dog leaves spots of dirt or something on my speciasl material sheets. So I bought a doggy bed and blanket and they're on the ground next to my bed. Will my dog stop whining to get on the bed? And will he be resentful hahh?
